The Veteran's Services office is located in the lower level of the Steele County Administration Building, 630 Florence Ave, Owatonna MN 55060.
The Steele County Veteran's Services Office is here to assist the approximately 4000 veterans in Steele County as well as their families, surviving spouses and dependent children. Every year the rules and regulations governing veterans' benefits become more complex and intimidating. We can advise these individuals of the benefits they may be eligible for in the form of Federal Veterans Benefits and State of Minnesota Veterans Benefits, we will complete the forms necessary to obtain these benefits, assist in obtaining the documentation necessary to support a claim for benefits, make certain the benefits the individual is entitled to are awarded and assist the individual to continue receiving the benefit once it has been awarded.
Some of the more common benefits available to veterans and their survivors are:- Compensation for service incurred disabilities
- Pensions
- VA guaranteed home loans
- Education
- Health Care
- Insurance
- Death Benefits
There is a myriad of other federal veterans' benefits that a veteran or his survivors could potentially be eligible to receive. Also, there are State of Minnesota benefits such as emergency financial and medical assistance for needy, disabled veterans and their families, and a war orphans' educational assistance program.
