Public Works Policy Committee
This committee is made up of County Highway Department, Park & Recreation, Four Seasons & the Landfill.County Highway
The Highway Department is responsible for the construction and maintenance of over 377 centerline miles of road including 132 bridges. The highway system is categorized by funding sources. County State Aid Highways (CSAH) consist of 313 miles and gas tax revenue is distributed by the State of Minnesota to assist in the construction and maintenance of these highways. County Roads (CR) consist of 64 miles and the local property tax levy, wheelage tax and sales tax funds the construction and maintenance of these roads.
Park & Recreation
Steele County is committed to providing all the residents of Steele County with a quality County park and facilities through continued parkland enhancement and building improvements.
Four Seasons
The multi-purpose complex consists of two connected buildings with 30,000 and 20,000 square feet of floor space that also serve as ice rinks. A hospitality area, usable also as a meeting space, overlooks both exhibit floors.
Landfill
The Steele County Landfill is owned and operated by Steele County. Located along Hwy 218 between Owatonna and Blooming Prairie, the landfill accepts various types of waste.
